Managed a unit of 5 Engineers responsible for design and deployment of quality systems to manage material control, testing, inspection, and certification for nuclear submarine and aircraft carrier construction. Developed company strategies and directed customer interface concerning critical quality issues. Pursued and completed doctoral coursework studies (All but dissertation) in Engineering Management at Old Dominion University.
1984 - 1987 QUALITY ASSURANCE ENGINEERING MANAGER TEXAS INSTRUMENTS, INC., DALLAS, TEXAS
Managed 9 Engineers performing quality assurance engineering activities for design, testing, analysis, and production of the Navy's High Speed Anti-Radiation Missile. Maintained forecasts, staffing, and recruiting for a $2.9M annual budget. Provided customer interface and technical performance contract negotiations for technical product specifications. Negotiated technical engineering requirements for a $1.5B annual contract. Implemented contractual quality requirements and designed the management systems to control shift from prototype low volume to production grade high volume operations. Responsible for establishment of technical performance standards and quality systems implementation.

Managed a 7 member staff responsible for the management of all training programs for a 3900-member unit. Organized, implemented, and evaluated all training programs for adequacy. Planned, analyzed, and evaluated unit readiness for strategic deployment. Designed and managed annual readiness exercises for 7 separate units. Designed curriculum, provided instruction, and administered Professional Development Programs for a 125 member Brigade Officer Corps.
SPECIAL (RANGER) OPERATIONS UNIT LEADER
Managed all functions for a 28 member Airborne-Ranger Special Operations Unit capable of worldwide deployment within 18 hours of notification. Maintained 24 hour readiness for jungle, artic, mountain, and desert operations by amphibous, airborne (parachute), aircraft, or helicopter insertion. Planned and trained all aspects of classified joint special operations, counter-terrorist activities, and global United States political policy projection.
ANTI-ARMOR UNIT LEADER
Managed all functions for a 64 member, 30 vehicle Anti-Armor Missile Unit. Responsible for accountability systems, training, and maintenance for $2.8M of equipment. Planned, organized, and managed all aspects of overseas (Europe) unit deployment and joint German/American operations.
SMALL UNIT LEADER
Managed all functions for a 33 member Infantry Unit. Responsible for personnel, training, and equipment accountability systems. Planned and coordinated intrastate deployment and training operations.
